Little 500 Media Resources

Why should media attend the 75th Little 500?

There are so many stories to tell about this year’s Little 500 bicycle races at Indiana University Bloomington.

  • 75th anniversary running of the men’s and 38th anniversary of the women's Little 500 race—since 1951, it’s grown into the largest collegiate bicycle race in the U.S.
  • Students Helping Students—a student-led fundraiser to help fellow IU students with basic needs like food, transportation, and more.
  • Often called “The World’s Greatest College Weekend,” the race draws alumni (and the occasional celebrity) from around the world.

Covering the Little 500

Credentials are required for all members of the media, whether you’re covering one or both races.

  • Women’s Little 500 bicycle race – Friday, April 24, at 4 p.m.
  • Men’s Little 500 bicycle race – Saturday, April 25, at 2 p.m.

Credentials, including infield access, will be issued only to working members of the media. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, April 1.

Apply for credentials

Available areas of access

When applying for credentials, you can request additional access to the infield, the press box, or both. Access will only be provided to areas necessary for each holder. The IU Student Foundation reserves the right to deny access to any and all zones. Scaffolding and tower access are not permitted.

Get access to cover all areas that are open to spectators.

Infield track access is limited to members of the news media and official IU photographers; team photographers will receive gate-only access.

Please note that, once the race begins, you will not be able to cross the track to enter or exit the infield.

Due to limited space, the press box will be a temporary drop-in workspace for media—not intended for outlets to use for the full duration of the race. Media approved for access are welcome to stop in as needed for Wi-Fi access and filing content.

If your media team has a marked broadcast vehicle—particularly a live satellite truck—contact bbrosher@iu.edu for special parking arrangements.

Get ready for race day

From press passes to parking, we’ve got you covered. If you have any questions, please contact Barbara Brosher at bbrosher@iu.edu.

If your credential request is approved, you will receive an email with instructions for pickup. Please be prepared to show identification when you pick up your pass.

Only those who have submitted the request form will be eligible to receive credentials. The IU Student Foundation reserves the right to limit the number of passes issued.

  • For your safety and the safety of all participants, you must always stay inside the safety line—10 feet from the edge of the track. The only exception to this rule is during the photo lap, at which point track officials will guide you.
  • You are not permitted to cross the track to enter or exit the infield for the duration of the race.
  • Photographers and videographers must yield to the official broadcast crew and their coverage of the winning team, as they have priority interview access.

Media approved for access are welcome to stop in as needed for Wi-Fi access and filing content.

Both races will take place on the IU Bloomington campus.
