Committees and Events

Marketers, philanthropists, recruiters, event planners — everyone has a place at IUSF. Our committees suit a range of interests. Join IUSF and let us know where you'd like to lend a hand. Subcommittee positions are filled by committee chairs, who are interviewed and selected by the IUSF Steering Committee.

Alumni Affairs

Wednesday's at 8:00 p.m.

Bridge the generation gap and network with IUSF alumni. The Alumni Affairs Committee helps maintain contact with more than 20,000 IUSF alumni. Members manage the archives and document IUSF events through photos and other media. The committee plans and implements the following events and activities:

  • Little 500 Alumni BBQ
  • IUSF historical archives
  • Alumni outreach events and engagement

Little 500 Cycling Committee (L5C2)

Wednesday's at 7:00 p.m.

Be an integral part of IU's Little 500 tradition. The Little 500 Cycling Committee helps create, produce and manage over a dozen cycling events over the course of the semester. Moreover, members help administer daily track practice requirements and rules. The committee plans and implements the following Little 500 cycling events:


Thursday's at 6:30 p.m.

Gain marketing experience ... now. The Marketing Committee promotes the IUSF mission through use of effective advertising, sponsor relations, and merchandise and ticket sales. The committee works with various local and national businesses to secure radio, television, internet, and print media; retain and develop new and existing sponsorships; design and market IUSF merchandise; and implement a successful Little 500 ticket campaign. The Marketing Committee also manages all IUSF social media platforms.

Freshmen Council

Tuesday's at 7:00 p.m.

If you are a freshman on campus, this is the committee for you! Come meet, work and have fun with other freshman. The Freshman Council will be responsible for planning events targeted towards other first-year students and helping establish the IUSF FUNdamentals program.


Tuesday's at 8:00 p.m.

Nurture the budding philanthropist within. The Philanthropy Committee is the driving force behind IUSF’s campaign to educate members and students about the value of supporting Indiana University. Members help administer IUSF's Metz Grant program, which provides financial support for IU student organizations. The committee plans and implements progams and events like:

  • IU Day
  • Cycling for Scholarships


Wednesday's at 6:00 p.m.

Help put on the World's Greatest College Weekend. Be an integral in planning the Little 500 race day agenda. Members will add value to this committee by recruiting and managing all Little 500 VIP's. The Pre-Race Committee is responsible for developing the look and feel of Bill Armstrong Stadium on race day.

Little 500 5k

Tuesday's at 6:00 p.m.

Help produce and manage IUSF's Little 500 5k. Members of this committee will be responsible for race day logistics, registration, timing and scoring, and volunteer management.
